2025 Highlights
The first edition of our event set the bar high for everything to follow. A total of 119 players from across the country and overseas flocked to the tight, wooded fairways of Charlbury for a weekend of highly competitive disc golf.
As always, Cotswold View has been a favourite venue on the national circuit, but this year’s developments are bound to elevate it within the rankings of UK courses. Shot variety was the core principle behind the newest layout changes, with both shape and length playing a central role. The redesigned fifth and sixth holes reintroduced the opportunity to move in and out of the woodlands — a characteristic lost after tree felling a few years ago. Hole 5 now calls for a tight flex forehand (though it may be slightly more forgiving in 2026…), while Hole 6 follows with a pushing backhand hyzer. Perched on a tree trunk, the new basket position sits amongst a wildflower field, offering brief respite before players return to narrower, more demanding greens.
From a competitive standpoint, the weekend delivered plenty of excitement. We crowned 13 champions across the divisions on offer, each navigating the demanding layout in their own way. James Hanley posted the best score of the tournament from the MA1 division - a rare occurrence given the depth of the Open field. Ben March and Iain McDougall could not be separated after three rounds in the aforementioned division, but required just one playoff hole to break the deadlock. With a Star Katana in hand, Iain delivered a perfect drive into Circle 1 on the par-4 third, and sealed victory from the tee.
Of course, competition is only part of what makes this event special. The social experience at Cotswold View is a defining element, bringing players together long after their rounds are over. With the café and accommodation situated directly on site, opportunity for après-golf is never in short supply. This year, almost half of the field joined us for the pizza and quiz night, creating the kind of atmosphere that turns a tournament into a memorable weekend.
